End of an Era: Farewell to Tanker 4632

February 20, 2026

Today the East Allen Township Volunteer Fire Department marked the retirement of a dependable piece of equipment. After nearly four decades of dedicated service, Tanker 4632 has officially left the station for the last time.

Tanker 4632’s history reflects both durability and local pride. In 1986, it began its journey as a brand-new GMC Brigadier with a 4-Guys tanker body, equipped with a 500-gallon-per-minute pump and a 2,100-gallon water tank. Thirteen years later, in 1999, the 4-Guys body was transferred onto a new Mack RD chassis. The Mack chassis holds special significance to the community, as it was built in the Lehigh Valley at the Mack plant. Additionally, a now-retired department member, who worked at the plant, personally helped to design and build the very chassis and cab that served East Allen Township for the next 25 years.

For more than 40 years, Tanker 4632 provided support to East Allen Township and neighboring communities, offering mutual aid for emergencies from northern Carbon County to the southern end of Lehigh County.

Today, Tanker 4632 began a new chapter. Loaded onto a flatbed, the tanker is heading south to Stewart County Fire Rescue in Tennessee. There, it will continue its role as a tanker, supporting a new community in need.

Tanker 4632 leaves behind a legacy of reliability and service, and it will continue to make a difference as it starts its next journey.
